Society – Reaches #3 on the UK App Store
(overtaking many well known brands)
On Friday 23rd September, the Society App reached Number 3 on the Apple App Store UK Top Charts in the Lifestyle category overtaking apps such as Zoopla, Tinder and WeAre8.
Society is continuing its rapid growth and geographical expansion as the new academic year begins. There are now over 3,000 individual Society Apps operating in over 250 educational institutions worldwide.
A free Society App can be built and launched ready for use in under 60 seconds, making Society probably the fastest community app builder in the market globally. Every branded app is comprehensive but easy to use, functions include: An in-app payment gateway, ticket booking capability and unlimited encrypted chat facilities. Group Chats can accommodate up to 1,000 participants per group chat. Each App is fully GDPR/CPPA compliant and Society pledges to never sell personal data.

On Friday 23rd September, the Society App reached Number 3 on the Apple App Store UK Top Charts in the Lifestyle category overtaking apps such as Zoopla, Tinder and WeAre8.
This performance was supported by thousands of university students downloading the app at the start of the new academic year in order to join all their respective university clubs and societies.
Each university now effectively has their very own on-line Virtual Freshers Fair available 24/7, 365 days a year. Within each safe and secure university eco-system, student clubs and societies all now have their very own free community app. This allows them to create a thriving engaged and bespoke network maximising membership. Clubs no longer need to use multiple fragmented platforms, which are not fit for purpose, to engage with their members.

Society was started by co-founder Dr Matthew Billington. Matthew reveals, “Membership has grown 3x Year-on-Year as the word has quickly spread about the Society App. In addition, user experience is excellent, as demonstrated by an overall rating of 4.8 on the Apple App Store.”
The Society App is helping student clubs to grow and properly engage with their membership, whilst at the same time eliminating many of the current tedious administration challenges faced by Club Committees.

The Society App is paving the way for a safer and more secure way for students and student communities to engage with each other. Matthew created the Society app while President of King’s College London’s Dental Society because he was frustrated that, at that time, there were no tailor-made solutions to help university club/society committees easily run their organisations.
Only standard general-purpose facilities (like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Email, etc.) were available. These solutions are not “Fit for Purpose” and certainly do not meet requirements for student safety, Internet Privacy, and personal data security.
Matthew said, “There are many well documented cases of data breaches and personal data being passed on to third Parties without consent in relation to the incumbent solutions. Society App is safe and secure and never sells your personal data.”

The Society App works with Student Unions (SU) to give them the free facility to provide, administer and oversee a safe ecosystem across all their clubs and societies.
The Society App pledge is to never sell personal data; mobile phone numbers are never revealed (unlike for example, WhatsApp) and only verified students within each University are allowed to be part of the secured campus ecosystem.
The Management Team at Society expects 2023 to be an epic year and is targeting significant further growth in both the UK and the US. They also expect to widen their global coverage by adding to the seven countries that Society is already operating in.
