Award winning app sets sights on scaling healthcare communities
Society has won one the most prestigious awards in healthcare. There are now tens of thousands of dental and medical student members among a full spectrum of healthcare students on Society Apps across the globe. Winning ‘App of the Year’ at the renowned Dental Industry Awards in December is testament to the adoption and influence that the Society platform has achieved within dental schools.

As with all clubs and societies at University, the DentSocs and MedSocs easily reach great user experience and virality because committees find it easier to promote everything all-in-one place, from the smallest to the largest events in the dental/medical school calendar. This includes everything from selling membership subscriptions to expensive annual balls and boat parties, where it’s common for student clubs to sell out hundreds of tickets within just a few minutes using the in-app payment gateway SocietyPay.

Society has plans to open-up the platform to everyone beyond students. Chief Technical Officer Anandu Yasodharan Devaprabha is pushing forward to release Society App v1.5 to allow anyone to create their very own community app in under 60 seconds. This version presents the greatest milestone and growth opportunity as Society plans to scale healthcare communities, starting in dentistry and medicine.

The ‘App of the Year’ award allows Society to win the attention of both the small and large healthcare industry associations and micro-communities formed by dentists/doctors, which typically function the same way at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Again, most healthcare committees run their organisations in the typical fragmented manner over Email, Websites, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Groups.
